Maloja - 2013
“Haus Soldanella” has been built in a central location in Maloja. A residential construction that is characterised by its reduced formal language. The spatial design was developed together with the client. The shape, an irregular hexagon, was created from the alignment of the main street and to guarantee the flats longer and better sunlight. The building envelope, which is made of coloured exposed concrete, banded with the board formwork, reflects the roughness and the warm reddish coloured surroundings.
The ground floor as well as the first floor house the nineteen studios for rent. In contrast with the building envelope, light-coloured materials are used inside. Smooth white plaster walls, a reddish natural stone floor and built-in furniture in rift larch wood. This gives the interior a calm, warm and cosy atmosphere.
The two basement levels contain cellar compartments, technical rooms and a two-storey car park that is accessible via a car lift.
