Silvaplana - 2018
The particular conformation of the lot, the various perspectives on the territory brought the studio to think about a design that could satisfy the clients requests and also be consistent and respectful towards the environment. Thus, the house appears as a mighty block of stone which protrudes from the ground, setting itself apart from the more urban Engadine and Bergeller houses.
Due to the polygonal floor plan, the stone house changes its character based on the point of view.
The materials used are all present on the territory, such as: the quarry stones from the closer Julier Pass or the larch wood that comes from the surrounding larch forest. They are always used raw so that they can age beautifully and gracefully over time.
The floor plan shows thick walls spanning from 80 cm to 1 metre that allow the creation of cavities to install windows or, inside, built-in furniture.
Inside, the serving functions are lined up along the north / east side (garage, entrance, stairs and wet rooms). On the south-western side, the living, dining and kitchen areas are located on the ground floor and the bedrooms are located on the upper floor. The house is heated with renewable energy, using a heat pump with geothermal probes.
