Capolago - 2009
The stone house designed in 2009 stands at the foot of the steep slopes of Piz Grevasalvas. As the furthest house, the building forms the northern edge of the village of Capolago, a district of Maloja, and rises above the roofscape of the surrounding urban structure.
The construction impresses with its compact walls made of granite blocks and its solid-protective appearance, which evokes associations with a mountain shelter. Towards the valley side, the house opens up through windows deeply cut into the facade and a generous terrace completely executed in stone, which allows for a view of the impressive mountain panorama. On the one hand, the hexagonal building cubature reinforces the modern architectural language; on the other hand, the floor plans make maximum use of the natural course of the sun, creating atmospheric plays of light in the living spaces.
