Sent - 2010
Sent is a small mountain village above Scuol in the Lower Engadine. The detached three-story single-family house stands at the edge of the village on a steep meadow path. The house is a cube of solid masonry clad with rubble stones. The stones come from an Engadine quarry and, with the shape of the house, they try to show the link with the place aiming to depict a pebble on the ground. The concept is based on the simplicity of form and structure. The strict shape of the body is softened by the irregularity of the stone walls.
The heavy walls contrast with the lightness of the windows and the smooth surface of the exposed concrete walls, emphasising the eternal value of time in the purity of the materials.
