Zuoz - 2011
The three houses are located on the western edge of Zuoz, a village in the Engadine region with 1,300 inhabitants. The buildings have a very close relationship with each other. The existing garden walls, combined with the houses, create alley-like outdoor spaces that offer views of the Engadine landscape.
Each of the two front houses has three 3.5-room apartments, while the slightly larger rear house has one 2.5-room and one 3.5-room apartment per floor. The living rooms with open kitchens are located in the front, plastered part of the houses, while the bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms are arranged in the rear, brick-built part.
The two basement levels contain storage rooms, technical rooms, and a two-story underground car park with 48 parking spaces. Each house has a hot water central heating system with a ground-source heat pump. The residential buildings meet the Minergie standards in terms of construction, but controlled ventilation of the living spaces has been omitted.
