Concept Phase
The three irregular building volumes appear like erratic boulders randomly distributed around a central square. The ensemble harmoniously integrates into the village structure and forms a coherent addition to the existing architecture. Due to their polygonal floor plans, the appearance of the buildings changes depending on the viewing angle: sometimes they appear massive and sprawling, sometimes narrow and slender, or foreshortened in perspective. This interplay between form and perception represents a dynamic and versatile architecture.
The building located on the northern property boundary is designed as a compact block of flats, with two 4.5-room flats per floor. The floor plans follow the principle of the "through-living type," where the open living and dining areas with integrated kitchen and balconies form the bright daytime rooms and allow for a free, flexible floor plan. The eastern building is planned exclusively with 5.5-room flats per floor, which are lit from three sides. The living and dining rooms are thus orientated to three sides, offering residents wide views and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. The terraced house on the south-western property boundary consists of three residential units. The roofline follows the topography and continuously rises from the western property boundary, resulting in a natural formal language adapted to the landscape.
