S-chanf - 2020
Microalgae are considered a versatile source of raw materials, for example in the food industry: they provide proteins and carbohydrates, but can also be used to produce natural pigments and antioxidants. They also provide polyunsaturated fatty acids or starting materials for pharmaceuticals. Microalgae can also be used for the recovery of phosphorus and nitrogen from wastewater.
In S-chanf, on the edge of the industrial zone on the banks of the Inn river, the studio planned to construct halls made of local larch wood, whose architectural expression serves as a distinctive feature in the rather bleak industrial zone, based on the already realised commercial building "Serlas Parc", which is only a few metres away.
