The council of the municipality of Zuoz, as the client, organised a project competition for the construction of a new kindergarten with an extension to the primary school. The project competition was carried out in an open, anonymous, and single-stage procedure.
Our studio has overseen the competition, which main aim was to achieve a high-quality project for a new building two kindergarten departments, a playgroup, a lunch centre with childcare and additional classrooms for the primary school. This includes the design and integration into the town structure as well as the architectural quality of the project. Great importance was given to a solution that was economical both in terms of construction and development.
The project no. 43 "Après-Ski" by ARGE Kiesel Brandi Tambornino Guerra Hausherr from Zurich emerged as the winner.
By precisely positioning a simple building structure, the authors succeeded in harmonising the complex urban planning situation, the difficult topographical conditions, and the diverse operational requirements of the task in an ideal manner and presenting a convincing proposal in all areas.
